On 15.05.22 a bunker ruin was set on fire in a forest area near Mettenheim in the district of Mühldorf am Inn, according to a police report by unknown persons. The bunker is part of the Mühldorfer Hart Concentration Camp Memorial. In the period from August 1944 to May 1945, about 8,000 prisoners were in the camps and were used as forced laborers at the armaments bunker or in special commandos. Around half of the detainees did not survive this. Due to the fire, the bunker ruin is in massive danger of collapsing, people were not harmed. Near the entrance, the police found a swastika smeared on the wall. Part of the police investigation is now whether this is related to the crime or has been there for some time.
